KJAER LEFT AT HOME
Thursday, August 23rd, 2012The Denmark national team manager has said that he has decided to omit the Wolfsburg defender Simon Kjaer from the squad that will face Slovakia in a friendly match. He has decided to omit the player from the squad because he is extremely close to sealing his move away from the German club. Simon Kjaer has been linked with all the major clubs in Europe, despite not having one of his best seasons with the Italian club Roma. He spent the last season on loan at the Italian club, but suffered with his form. It was not surprising given that Roma themselves suffered from poor form throughout the season.
Despite this, the highly rated defender is all set to be sold by the German club. A number of parties from Europe are set to be interested in the player. He is rated at around € 6.5 million by his club, but he has already said that he will not play for the club again if they retain the services of the manager Felix Magath. The player has fallen out with Felix Magath and it is unlikely that the manager will be sacked for this reason alone.
It has been rumoured in the last couple of weeks that Premier league champions Manchester city were interested in securing the services of the young defender. Even though Simon Kjaer was extremely promising for the major clubs like Chelsea and Barcelona only a few seasons ago, he has fallen out of favour with most of the high-profile clubs as a result of this form. However, the Manchester city manager Roberto Mancini of the belief that he can bring back Simon Kjaer to his best. Roberto Mancini has consistently brought the best out of his defenders at Manchester city, but he is thought to be looking for a replacement for Joleon Lescott.
